The MonaLisa Touch® is a quick and safe laser treatment that takes less than 30 minutes to complete.
This procedure can help women who experience vaginal laxity, dryness, itching, pain during sex and urinary incontinence. Women usually notice a difference in their symptoms after one to three visits.
The benefits of the treatment are significant, and the only aftercare required is avoiding sexual intercourse or penetration for five days after the procedure.
Before the MonaLisa Vaginal Rejuvenation treatment, patients are asked to fill out a questionnaire about sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence. They are also requested to clip their pubic hair to help with the treatment on the outside of the vulva.
During the MonaLisa Touch® treatment, some patients might feel a slight discomfort while inserting the probe.
However, during the vaginal treatment, you may only feel a tingly sensation, and when treating the vulva, most patients describe mild discomfort. Some patients might also hear a slight noise during the procedure. Despite these sensations, most patients tolerate the treatment well, even without numbing cream.
On a pain scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is no pain and, 10 is severe pain, most patients score the treatment as ‘2’, indicating that the procedure is generally pain-free and well-tolerated.
The MonaLisa Touch® treatment, including consultation, consent, and the actual procedure, takes less than 30 minutes.
After the MonaLisa Touch® treatment, it’s essential to refrain from sexual activity for seven days. It’s recommended to wear loose clothing and avoid using any soap on the treated area for the first 48 hours. You may feel some redness and itching in the treated area for a day or two. It’s okay to apply some Vaseline if needed.
We recommend cleansing the area two to three times a day to prevent any infection.
5 things to remember about treatment:
The MonaLisa Touch® treatment is not recommended for patients who have a severe prolapse or have had a mesh repair for prolapse. However, some patients have been treated without harm. It’s also not recommended for those who have had radiotherapy, are pregnant, or have had a baby less than three months ago, as the tissues may be fragile.
If you’re interested in combining the MonaLisa Touch® treatment with PRP treatment to the vagina, your doctor can discuss this with you further.
You might notice an immediate improvement in sexual desire and pleasure. But it usually takes three months to see complete results.
