PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, a type of treatment that uses the platelets from our blood to promote healing and regeneration in injured areas. Our blood contains components like red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Platelets are remarkable because they comprise growth factors. It can help repair and regenerate the area they are injected into.

For example, when we get a cut and start bleeding, the platelets form a plug that stops the bleeding. After that, they release growth factors helping in the repair and regeneration of the cut. This is the same principle behind PRP treatment, where platelets are isolated from a small amount of the patient’s own blood and injected into the injured area.

The sexual function includes five critical components: desire, arousal, lubrication, pain and orgasm. While traditional treatments for sexual dysfunction, such as psychosexual counselling and off-label use of testosterone therapy, may be helpful, they may not effectively address all aspects of sexual function.

PRP works by increasing pluripotent stem cells, which leads to rejuvenation and promotes the release of growth factors that enhance blood flow and nerve growth. The procedure involves two injections with a small needle. We use numbing cream 20 minutes before to reduce discomfort. It is similar to the process of doing PRP for the face.

Since PRP is derived from a patient’s own blood, there are no risks involved. Although, there is a rare chance of experiencing flu-like symptoms after the PRP injection.
